In many cuisines, star anise is known by a variety of names and is shaped like a flower with a potent flavour and perfume.

Star anise, which is also referred to by the names Badiyan fool, Chakar Phool, Chakri fool, aniseed flower, stone flower, and others, is a necessary ingredient for any Indian cooking method and is most frequently used to make the flavorful dishes Pulav, Briyani, and seafood.

It is also one of the main ingredients in garam masala powder and the Chinese "5 spices."

Often employed as a secret ingredient in Indian cuisine, particularly in 5-spice blends, star anise whole spice is a unique, fragrant spice from Vietnam that is mostly renowned for its lovely perfume and delicate flavour that is similar to fennel and basil.

Almost all Chinese meals are prepared using star anise. Typically, during cooking, food is used whole, and once it has been prepared, it is removed right before eating.

When cooked, star anise generates a strong scent and smell that gives meals a distinctive flavour.

Its name comes from its star-like shape, and its colour can range from orange to red.

The fruits themselves feature a whorl-shaped arrangement of 6–10 carpels. Within each of these carpels is a seed.

Along with adding flavour to food, this little fruit with a flower-like appearance is also a storehouse of essential nutrients.

Asian star anise (Chakri Phool) is one of the ingredients. Whole anise seeds are packaged in a food-grade zipper plastic bag for convenient cupboard storage.

The dried sap of various species of Middle Eastern legumes belonging to the family Astragalus is used to make the natural gum known as "Gond Katira." Shiraz gum, Shiraz, gum elect, and gum dragon are some alternate names for the gum. Although it is a tree gum like all myrrh, it is less frequently used in products than other gums like guar gum or gum arabic.
